Hi, this is the Sports Betting Whale. Today I’m going to answer this question: Can you cancel or amend a mistakenly-placed sports bet after it has been made?

Have you ever accidentally placed a wrong bet at the sportsbook? Maybe you wagered the wrong amount, the wrong bet type, or even made it on the wrong team! It can happen to all of us. The good news is that in Las Vegas, the sportsbooks can allow you to amend a wager that was accidentally placed, even after it has been made!

Generally speaking, most online wagers are pretty much final once they’ve been placed. That means that you cannot change the terms of a placed wager. You cannot cancel or withdraw from that bet regardless of the circumstances.

In Las Vegas, however, sportsbooks can sometimes allow you to change your wager after it has been placed if you did make an honest mistake. Even though their rules technically say that all bets are final once you leave the betting window, the reality is that they have the flexibility to accommodate changes. All you need to do is just go back to the sportsbook as soon as possible and explain your situation. Oftentimes, they will allow you to make the change if you’re friendly about it.

Here’s an actual example it all in action. Earlier today, I placed a Round Robin bet for $4,000, as you can see below. Unfortunately, one of the bets was incorrectly made. I had meant to take the Over the total on Seattle and Cleveland, not the Under.

Fortunately, I caught it just in time and was able to go back to the sportsbook to correct the bet. This all happened after the initial wager was placed. As you can see below, here is the brand new betting ticket that correctly has what I initially wanted: Overs on both baseball games, and Unders on both basketball games:

Today, I’m betting a total of $8,000 on my own picks, as you can see here below. So for any reason if I cannot help you win today, that’s how much money I could be out.

As always, you can see that I put my money where my mouth is. Unlike other touts who are out to make money from selling their picks, I am here to show you that I make my money from betting on my own picks! If all goes well today, you could see me walk away with tens of thousands of dollars!
