Clemson Tigers vs. North Carolina Tar Heels, ACC Coastal Division game. Defending champions are looking for another title this year. Everything has worked perfectly for the Tigers to date. The Tigers won in the first four weeks, and they hope to win this third conference game. The home team lost in the last two weeks, and they are desperate to win to end this losing streak.
Clemson Tigers: No one can beat us.
The Tigers are the nation’s number one so far. Four weeks full of victories, including two victories in the conference. The first victories of the season were against: Georgia Tech (our prediction) 52-14 ACC, Texas A&M 24-10, Syracuse 41-6 ACC, Charlotte 52-10. The only victory with less than 30 points was against Texas A&M. This game against the Tar Heels is the first of three games against several teams of the “Carolinas.”
This season the Tigers are scoring an average of 42.2 points per game, 37.5 rushes with 247 rush yards, 20.5 completed passes with 277.8 pass yards. In the first three quarters the Tigers average 10 points in each. The defense is allowing only 10 points, 38.2 rushes with 94.5 rush yards, 13.5 completed passes with 152 pass yards.
Trevor Lawrence in his second year as starting quarterback. Probably a couple more years in college before reaching the NFL. Trevor has good numbers with 62.30% with 66 completed passes. 925 yards, 7 touchdown and 5 interceptions. 147.9 rating on average. Most interceptions have been at home. 11 rushing attemps for 3 TDs.
North Carolina Tar Heels: Attack to win.
The Tar Heels suffered in the last two weeks of the season. The team lost a game at home and another on the road. The defeat in week three was on the road against Wake Forest 18-24 ACC, and last week against Appalachian State 31-34. In the conference the team has one victory and one defeat, the only victory was against Miami (FL) 28-25 in the second week.
The team is scoring an average of 25.2 points per game, 41.2 rushes with 156.2 rush yards, 19.2 completed passes with 262.2 pass yards. In the fourth quarter the Tar Heels are averaging 11.2 points per game. The defense is weak, the team allows 25.8 points, 37.8 rushes and 20 completed passes with 222.20 pass yards.
Sam Howell with 64.1% for 75 completed passes. 1024 yards, 9 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. Howell with good performance, but the offense has not been effective in the season. 159.6 rating on average. The offensive problem is noted with Howell’s 43 rushing attemps with 19 yards for 1 touchdown.
