The MLB is back in action on Thursday as the Boston Red Sox will clash with Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington in game one of their four-game series. The Red Sox will give the nod to David Price and the Mariners have opted for Felix Hernandez.
Boston Red Sox Form
The Red Sox are one of the best teams in the league this season. They had a great start of the season as they aim for the top spot of the American League East. However, they are now tied with the Yankees at the top of the division. In this game, they will be challenged by the strong Mariners team as they are on top of the American League West. This game will be a great challenge for the Red Sox as they are facing a team that is in a very solid form. The Red Sox have averaged 5.12 runs per game and have allowed 3.58 runs per game on the road so far. David Price record against the Mariners stands at 3-1 with a 2.62 ERA in seven starts, including 1-0 with a 2.81 ERA in two starts at Safeco Field.
On the offensive side of the game, the Red Sox are the 2nd best team in the league in scoring, putting up 5.13 runs per game, while also being the 1st in hitting at .262 and 2nd in homers with a total of 97 so far. On the mound, they have some great stats as they are placed on the 4th spot in the league in ERA at 3.46, while also holding the 6th spot in WHIP at 1.20 and 2nd in K’s with 668.
Seattle Marines Form
The Seattle Mariners had a poor start of the season. However, it seems that they put that disappointment behind as they have been in a dominant form lately. The Marines have been very good on the offensive side of the game in recent games. Their latest win against the Angels was with a solid result of 8-6. Seattle will also need to improve on the mound as they are going to face the 2nd best offensive team in the league. The Mariners have averaged 3.94 runs per game and have allowed 3.88 runs per game here at home for the year. Felix Hernandez record against the Red Sox stands at 8-4 with a 4.01 ERA in 19 starts.
On the offensive side of the game, the Marines have been in average form this season as they are placed on the 13th spot in the league in scoring, putting up 4.40 runs per game, while also holding the 6th spot in hitting at .259 and 9th place in homers with a total of 82 so far. On the mound, they are also on the 13th spot in the league in ERA at 3.82, while also holding the 7th spot in WHIP at 1.21 and 11th in K’s with 585.
Both of these two teams are in a good form at the moment. The Marines are rolling and it seems that they are constantly improving. On the other side, the Red Sox are the 2nd best offensive team in the league. It will be an interesting game and even though the Mariners are on the up, I can’t see them winning this game. I think that the Red Sox are the better team and that they will show that in a dominant way on Thursday. Go for a Red Sox win.
