The MLB is back on Sunday afternoon as the Cincinnati Reds will visit the Busch Stadium to face the St Louis Cardinals in the final game of a three-game series.
St Louis took game one of this series by a score of 12-5.
The Reds will give the nod to Anthony DeSclafani and the Cardinals will counter with Jack Flaherty.
Cincinnati Reds Form
The Reds are going through a bad patch at the moment. They have not been great in the last few games. They lost the first game of this series with a score of 12-5. Homer Bailey had a poor game as he allowed seven runs on nine hits and two walks in 5.0 innings of a 12-5. Loss.
However, the Reds were able to bounce back in the second game with a score of 4-0. They were dominant in this game and that will give them a big boost heading into the final game of the series.
The Reds have averaged 4.29 runs per game and have allowed 5.26 runs per game on the road so far.
On the offensive side of the game, the Reds have been average this season as they are placed on the 14th spot in the league in scoring, putting up 4.53 runs per game, while also being on the 4th spot in hitting at .259 and 22nd in homers with a total of 141 so far. On the mound, they have been poor so far as they are placed on the 26th spot in the league in ERA at 4.80, and 28th place in WHIP at 1.43 and 26th spot in K’s with 1038.
St Louis Cardinals Form
The St Louis Cardinals are enjoying a strong run and they will enter their game on Saturday having won 18 of their last 22 games. This winning stretch enabled them to grab the top spot in the National League wildcard race. However, they have lost the last game with a score of 4-0 and they will aim to improve in this final game of the series.
The Cardinals are placed on the 11th spot in the league in scoring, putting up 4.62 runs per game, while also being 14th in hitting at .251 and 9th spot in homers with a total of 175. On the mound, they have been very solid so far as they are placed on the 5th spot in the league in ERA at 3.66 while also being on the 15th spot in WHIP at 1.30 and 19th place in K’s with 1091.
The Reds are struggling lately and their win in the second game does not show their real form. On the other side, the St Louis Cardinals are playing well and their defeat on the second game was just a bad day. They head into this game as the favourites and I expect them to perform well which will result in a solid win.
Go for the Cardinals in this one.
