The MLB is back in action on Tuesday evening as the Miami Marlins will head to Busch Stadium in St Louis, Missouri to clash with the St Louis Cardinals. The Marlins will give the nod to the Dominican pitcher Jose Urena and the Cardinals will also give a start to another Dominican pitcher Carlos Martinez.
Miami Marlins
The Miami Marlins are one of the worst teams in the MLB this season. Their current away form is really bad as they have now gone just 10-21 so far this season. They head into this game against a very solid Cardinals team and their offensive will have to dig deep in order to achieve something in this game. However, that will be a hard task as the Cardinals have been very convincing on the mound so far. The Marlins have averaged 3.32 runs per game and have allowed 6.00 runs per game on the road so far. Jose Urena record against the Cardinals stands at 1-1 with an 8.16 ERA in three starts, including 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA in one start at the Busch Stadium.
On the offensive side of the game, the Marlins have been in poor form this season as they are placed on the 30th spot in the league in scoring, putting up an average of 3.32 runs per game, while also ranking being 24th in hitting at .233 and on the 30th place in homers with a total of 43 so far this season. On the mound, they have some poor stats as they are placed on the low 29th spot in the league in ERA at 5.06, while also holding the 25th spot in WHIP at 1.42 and 21st in K’s with 474.
St. Louis Cardinals Form
The St Louis Cardinals are in a very solid form lately. The Cards recent record stands at 6-3 in their last nine games which are a solid result in this phase of the season. They have been very solid against the Brewers and the expectation is that they dominance will continue in this game. They head into this game on the wings of a convincing win against the Pirates on Monday. The Cardinals have averaged 4.23 runs per game and have allowed 3.60 runs per game here at home so far. Carlos Martinez record against the Marlins stands at 2-1 with a 5.04 ERA in four starts.
On the offensive side of the game, the Cards has been in average form this season as they are placed on the 14th spot in scoring, putting up 4.30 runs per game, while also holding the 21st spot in hitting at .239 and the 12th place in homers with a total of 69 so far this season. On the mound, they have some great stats this season as they are placed on the 6th spot in the league in ERA at 3.48 while also holding the 13th spot in WHIP at 1.25 and 21st in K’s with 472.
The Marlins are going through a bad patch at the moment and based on their latest performances, I can’t see them bouncing back. On the other side, the Cardinals are constantly improving their offensive stats and combined with their solidity on the mound, I can see them winning this game. Go for the Cardinals in this one.
