Major League Baseball is back on Thursday afternoon as the Minnesota Twins will face the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York in game four of their four-game series. The Twins will start this game with the experienced pitcher Kyle Gibson and the Yankees will counter with Jordan Montgomery.
Minnesota Twins Form
The Minnesota Twins had a good start of the season, but they are not in a good form lately as they will enter Wednesday’s game against the Yankees after losing their last five games in a row. Their pitching was solid at the beginning of the year as they allowed an average of 3.38 runs per game over their first 13 games. However, that has changed completely as they have allowed 9.6 runs per game during their five-game losing patch. They really need to improve as they are in a free fall at the moment.
On the offensive side of the game, the Twins are in an average form so far as they are placed on the 21st spot in the league in scoring, putting up 4.00 runs per game, while also being the 24th in hitting at .228 and also 24th in homers with a total of 19. On the mound, they have been rather poor so far as they come in ranked 24th in the league in ERA at 4.84, while also ranking 23rd in WHIP at 1.41 and 26th in K’s with 175.
New York Yankees Form
The New York Yankees did not have a good start of the season, but they have really stepped up their game as they head into Wednesday’s game having the advantage of winning their last four games in a row and they have outscored their opponents with 36-6 in those four games.
On the offensive side of the game, the Yankees have been very good so far as they enter this contest being on the 1st spot in the league in scoring, putting up 6.14 runs per game, while also being placed on the 5th spot in hitting at .261 and 1st in homers with 36. On the mound, their stats are not so great as they are placed on the 14th spot in the league in ERA at 4.01. The Yankees are also placed on the 12th in WHIP at 1.24 and 4th in K’s with 231.
All in all, the Yankees are in a great form and have scored 36 runs in their last four games. Combined with that, the Twins have allowed 9.60 runs per game over their last five games. On one side, the Yankees have a great offensive firepower and on the other side, the Twins are in a bad form. That is why I go for the Yankees to win this easily.
