San Diego Padres vs. Washington Nationals, first game of the series. The last series at home for the Padres was a failure. So far the record at home is still negative but for only two games. This long series of four games is another opportunity to repair the record. The Nats won the last series, but the record on the road is still negative this season. None of the teams have a good future in the league.
San Diego Padres: Little to be positive.
The Padres this season have a negative record at home with 16 wins and 18 defeats. The team only needs three victories so that the record is positive. Before of this series the Padres lost against the Phillies 1-2. Also against the Marlins 1-2 at home. But before those two series, the Padres won four straight games, including a series against the Diamondbacks.
At home the Padres are scoring an average of 3.71 runs per game, 2.73 walks, 7.09 hits, 1.39 home runs, 11.76 left on base. The defense allows up to 4.21 runs per game, 2.30 walks, 9.00 strike outs, 8.15 hits, 1.30 home runs, 12.09 left on base. Against the Phillies the team allowed 18 runs.
Joey Lucchesi will open the tonight series. So far, four wins and three losses in eleven games as a starter for Lucchesi. 3.96 ERA, 61.1 pitched innings, 53 hits, 28 runs, 8 home runs, 62 strike outs, 1,109 WHIP. Lucchesi’s last victory was against the Marlins in the first game of that series 5-2.
Washington Nationals: We’re not that bad.
The Nationals won the last series on the road against the Reds 2-1. They also won the mini series against the Braves 2-0. In the last five games the record is 4-1. In the season on the road the record is negative with 13-18 so far. For now the Nationals are in recovery winning games, but there is still much to be gained on the road.
