Seattle Mariners vs. Houston Astros, second game of the series. The Astros won last night for a couple of runs. The game was tight but the Astros always had the key to get the victory. From the first inning the stars showed strength to win, the game was slow but in the end the few runs were enough. The Mariners had to wait until the third inning to score the only runs of the game for them.
Seattle Mariners: Defense at home.
The Mariners could not do anything to win the first game of this long series. Now the record is much worse with 12 wins and 20 home losses. This is the third home loss in a row. The last home win was in the second game of the series against the Angels. In the first game of this series the team could only score two runs to lose 2-4 against the Astros.
Mallex Smith and Edwin Encarnacion were the two best Mariners players in the first game. Each with 1 run, 1 hit and 1 RBI. Shed Long contributed 2 hits for a total of 7 hits in the game. The Mariners are scoring 4.47 runs per game, 3.59 walks, 7.44 hits and 1.44 home runs.
Yusei Kikuchi will be available tonight to open the second game of the series. 3-3 in 13 games as a starter for Kikuchi, 4.43 ERA, 67 pitched innings, 71 hits, 40 runs, 11 home runs, 50 strike outs, 1,313 WHIP. The last Kikuchi game at home was against the Red Sox two months ago to lose 6-7.
Houston Astros: We are powerful on the road.
The Astros continue to increase the record on the road with more victories. 19 victories and only twelve defeats so far. This is the fourth consecutive win on the road after sweeping the Athletics in three games. Before this winning streak the Astros had won seven games. Between May and June the record on the road has grown a lot. Only three losses in less than a month on the road.
The first three runs went to the Astros in the first inning, the other run was in the sixth inning. Josh Riddick was the best with 1 hit, 2 runs and 1 RBI in 4 at bats. Bregman contributed 2 hits, for a total of 5 hits in the game. The Astros scored up to 5.03 runs per game, 3.57 Walks, 8.94 hits and last night they just scored 4 runs and less than 6 hits. Altuve will not be available for any game in this series.
Wade Miley will be on the mount tonight. Nine years in the league, most with the Diamondbacks. First year with the Astros for 5-3 in 12 games as a starter. 3.25 ERA, 69.1 pitched innings, 63 hits, 26 runs, 11 home runs, 54 strike outs, and 1,139 WHIP. On the road Miley has no victories this season.
