Seattle Mariners vs. Tampa Bay Rays, second game of the series. Last night we were waiting for the nine runs to complete the over. But the Mariners did what they could to score runs. The Rays won the game as they needed it. All victories are necessary for the Rays if they want the Wild Card.
Seattle Mariners: Another game with a new price.
The Mariners in the first game of the series did their best to win. The team tied the game twice. But that was no use in front of the Rays. The visitors were hungry for a victory. The final result was for Rays 5-3. The first run in the game also for visitors in the second inning.
Last night the Mariners not only allowed 5 runs, but in the game the home team allowed 8 hits. The defense was weak in both halves of the game. But the offensive managed to score 9 hits and a run in the ninth inning trying to tie the game. 7-3 in the last 10 games against the Rays, and 60-53 overall since 2006.
Matt Wisler is new to the Mariners. So far without official victories with the home team. Three games started, 3.24 ERA, 8.1 pitched innings, 8 hits, 5 runs, 1 home runs, 11 strike outs, 0.960 WHIP.
Tampa Bay Rays: We need another victory.
The Rays don’t want to lose anything. Last night, the team made it very clear in Seattle that they are ready for everything to win. The team worked hard from the beginning. Three players were the highlights of the game by the Rays: Pham, Duffy and Kiermaier. The Rays scored 5 runs, 8 hits and only one mistake in the entire game.
In the first game of the series the Rays used six pitchers. Beeks as starter allowed 2 runs and 5 hits. The starter had to leave after 3.2 innings. All other pitchers did not work more than 1.1 inning each. Only 8 players left on base throughout the game.
Charlie Morton tonight for the second game. Veteran with a 12-year career in the league. So far the season has been perfect for Morton with 12-4 in 24 games as a starter. 2.77 ERA, 143.0 pitched innings, 110 hits, 48 runs, 11 home runs, 174 strike outs, 1070 WHIP. Morton’s last victory on the road was the Red Sox 6-5.
