Washington Nationals vs. Houston Astros, World Series game 3. Difficult situation for the Astros after losing both home games in a humiliating way in front of all the fans. But the Astros can win a game and avoid being swept in Washington. Now the home team, the Nationals, are looking to achieve something impossible. All the attention of the state of Washington will be on the next two games at home.
Washington Nationals: We are risking everything.
The Nationals already did the dirty work. The team won the first two games of the world series in Houston. Nobody expected that to happen, especially in the Astros house. But the Nationals had a stronger offense, the mound was important, but much more power at bat. The second game was the hardest hit that the team could give in Houston winning the game 12-3.
At home the Nationals are scoring an average of 5.60 runs per game, 3.69 walks, 7.80 hits, 9.12 hits, 1.56 home runs, 14.12 left on base. The overall record at home is 54-32. The defense allows up to 4.69 runs per game, 3.15 walks, 9.73 strike outs, 8.85 hits, 1.38 home runs, 14.22 left on base.
Anibal Sanchez for the first game at home. This is the first season with the Nationals for Sanchez and everything has been perfect for him. 11-8 in 30 games as starter, 3.85 Era, 166 pitched innings, 153 hits, 77 runs, 22 home runs, 134 strike outs, 1271 WHIP. This has been the best season for Sanchez since 2013 with the Tigers.
Houston Astros: A game to return home.
The Astros can avoid losing the world series 0-4 in Washington by winning just one game. Being humiliated is not easy, but the Astros know how to get out of such situations. The two losses at home are a thing of the past. Now the team must focus on winning at least one game, and if possible win both games to tie the series.
On the road the Astros are scoring an average of 5.21 runs per game, 4.01 walks, 7.42 strike outs, 9.21 hits, 1.66 home runs, 15.72 left on base. The record on the road overall is 49-37 this season including playoffs. Against the Yankees the Astros won two of three games. The defense is allowing up to 3.95 runs, 2.89 walks, 9.76 strike outs, 7.37 hits, 1.20 home runs, 12.38 left on base.
Zack Greinke 18-5 overall with two teams this season. But the best numbers have been with the Astros with 8-1 in 10 games as starter. 62.2 pitched innings, 58 hits, 25 runs, 6 home runs, 52 strike outs and 1069 WHIP.
