Miami Heat vs. Los Angeles Lakers, Game 2 NBA Finals. Surprise for the Heat in the first game of the finals. The team couldn’t stop James and company. For now the Heat still playing as underdogs but they have a lot to offer. The Lakers’ victory in the first game of the finals was a clear message to Spoelstra. Miami’s strategy in the playoffs remains the same. But the Lakers already know the Heat’s weak points.
Miami Heat: Second game.
The Heat barely won a single quarter in Game 1 of the Finals. The fourth quarter ended 31-23 for the Heat. But it was not enough. The Lakers won the first quarter 28-31 and it looked like the game was going to be highly defensive. But it was not like that, the game ended 116-98. The defense was tough against Miami, only Jimmy Butler could score more than twenty points.
The defense remains one of the best in the postseason. 107.8 points per game. But against the Lakers the team allowed 29 points per quarter. Which means up to 2.05 points more than the average. This is the second time in the playoffs that the Heat have scored less than 100 points. The first time was against the Pacers 99-87.
Butler was the only one capable of scoring 23 points in the first game. The closest to Butler was Crowder with 12 points. Dragic could not score more than 6 points due to the powerful defense of the Lakers. From the bench Kendrick Nunn scored 18 points and Tyler Herro only 14 points. The Heat used six players from the bench.
Los Angeles Lakers: Nothing stops us.
The Lakers have a quality team. The first victory was good, with an advantage that almost nobody can do in finals. James and Davis were exceptional in the first game. Both showed that they can multitask. James with assists and Davis with rebounds and points. For now the Lakers have not changed the strategy they have used in the playoffs.
The team now has the second best offense in the playoffs table. But they should be in first place, the Mavericks aren’t playing anymore. Still, the Lakers are the deadliest team with 10.1 offensive rebounds and 25.9 assists per game. Also defense is number three in steals. And the percentage in FG points is 49.6% in the playoffs.
Davis with 34 points and James with 25 were the only two out of twenty points. James led the assists with nine total and led in rebounds with 13 rebounds. Caruso led the bench with 10 points. McGee was the only player who saw no action in the first game. 31 points were scored from the bench.
