Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat, Game 3 Eastern Conference Finals. Double advantage for Miami in the finals. For now, the Heat are widely favorites to win the conference. But the Celtics have shown no weakness, only that the team narrowly lost points. The losses are minimal, but enough for Miami to move closer to the title.
Boston Celtics: Hope above all.
The Celtics have good defense. The first loss was by just three points. The second loss of these finals was two days ago by just five points. The key to the losses against Miami is in the offensive rebounds. In the most recent game, the Heat were up 23.9% versus 18.2%. Those rebounds are important, if one player misses the first shot, another player recovers and scores.
The Celtics’ offense is ninth in the table in the postseason. The team scores an average of 107.6 points per game, 37.8 FG points, 12.4 three pointers, 80.8% free throw shots, 7.8 offensive rebounds, 21.2 assists and 6.8 steals. The Celtics’ strong point is defense, the team is number one in the playoffs allowing only 101.8 points and 11.7 threes.
Jayson Tatum has led the Celtics in both games against the Heat. He scored 30 points in the first, and 21 in the second. Walker was the top scorer in the second game with 23 points and 9 field goals. But most of the players, during the second game, scored fewer points than in the first. An average of 8.2 points less.
Miami Heat: Defense is power.
The Heat made it to the conference finals underdog in most games. But here they are one step away from the title and a final against the Lakers or Nuggets. Offensive work is good, but the Heat have deadly defense. Miami knows how to stop the Celtics. The same defensive strategy was applied against the Bucks. But the Heat are still underdog for Game 3 of these finals.
The team has the fifth best offense of the postseason. Miami Heat is scoring an average of 112 points per game, 37.8 FG points, 14.3 three pointes, 81.5% free throw shots, 8.5 offensive rebounds, 25.4 assists, 8.1 steals and 4.1 blocks. The defense is in second place in the table, the team allows only 104.4 points per game and 11.5 three pointers.
In the second victory the team was led by Butler, Crowder and Dragic. From the bench the offense scored 22 points with four players. Offensive power was superior compared to the first game. But this series is generally expected to be highly defensive. The Heat use between 5 and 7 players from the bench.
