Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics, Game 5 Eastern Conference. The Heat are one win away from the conference title. After starting the series as an underdog, Heath is a favorite for the finals. Game 5 was key in showing that the Heat have not changed their game plan. Right now the Celtics don’t have much to do. Winning 4 games is almost impossible for them.
Miami Heat: The last step.
The Heat have a golden opportunity on their hands like they did years ago. Spoelstra patiently managed to rebuild the team’s attack with unconventional players. The job is done, if the Heat win tonight they are conference champs. The fourth game in this series was a 112–109 victory. This is the second time in the playoffs that the Heat have a 3-1 lead over an opponent.
The Heat’s offense is the fifth-best in the playoffs with an average of 111.5 points per game. 37.5 FG points, 13.8 three pointers, 82.2% free throw shots, 8.9 offensive rebounds, 24.6 assists, 7.9 steals. Defense is the third best, the team allows only 105.7 points per game.
Adebayo, Dragic, Butler all scored twenty points or more in the last win against the Celtics. The most incredible of the fourth game was Tyler Herro with 37 points from the bench. Iguodala scored only 3 three points. Herro also scored 5 three pointers, 4 free throws, 3 assists, and 6 rebounds.
Boston Celtics: On the edge of the abyss.
The Celtics know that winning this series is next to impossible. 3-1 in the conference finals is too deep a hole. The Celtics’ defense is number one in the playoffs, but against the Heat there is little they can do. In the only win in this series, the Celtics outscored the Heat by 11 points in Game 3. But now with the desperation of being three games down it is almost impossible that the game is only defensive.
The team is scoring an average of 108.3 points per game. 38.1 FG points, 12.3 three pointers, 81.3%, 22 assists, 8.2 offensive rebounds, 6.7 steals and 5.1 blocks. The defense allows only 102.7 points in the playoffs, but against the Miami Heat the team is struggling.
Jayson Tatum is averaging 25.5 points per game with 44.8% FG points and 2.7 threes. In the fourth game of the series Tatum scored just 28 points with 4 of 15 three pointers. The bench scored 22 points. Of the starters in Game 4, Theis was below ten points with only 8 points in 30 minutes of play.
