Clemson Tigers vs. Virginia Cavaliers, NCAAF ACC Championship. The Tigers look for what has been easy for them in the last two years, another conference title and a pass to the finals for the NCAA title. The Tigers are the strongest team of the ACC and probably the most favorite for the title. But the Cavaliers reached this final playing well, although the team does not have the best offense, they are still a strong opponent for the Tigers.
Clemson Tigers: We can with this.
The Tigers have twelve wins without losses this season. In the conference the record is also undefeated with 8 solid victories. The last victory in the conference was against Wake Forest 52-3 at home. The team won the last three games against the Cavaliers: 13-3 in Virginia, 34-21 at home, and the most recent in 2013 in Virginia 59-10.
This season the Tigers have the fourth best offense of the season with 45.2 points per game, 39.2 rushes with 256.4 rush yards, 22.4 completed passes for 285.4 pass yards. The defense is the number one in the nation allowing only 10.1 points, 36.5 rushes with 106.3 rush yards, 11.7 completed passes for 126.5 pass yards.
Trevor Lawrence is leader in the conference in several categories: Pass Completion Percentage 68.6%, Passing Yards Per Attempt 9.1, Passing Efficiency Rating 171.5, Total Yards Per Play 8.4, TD Responsible For 37, among others. 68.9% for 216 completed passes, 2870 yards, 30 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions.
Virginia Cavaliers: It’s a great challenge.
The Cavaliers are leaders of the other division in the ACC. But the season was not the best for the team. 9 wins and three losses with poor results in the offensive and defensive. The team could not keep a record without defeats. The three defeats came almost all together. The last victory in the conference was against Virginia Tech at home 39-30.
The Cavaliers’ offense is number 32 of the nation with 33.7 points on average, 32.8 rushes with 128.4 rush yards, 23.2 completed passes for 261.8 pass yards. The defense is number 42 averaging 23.5 points per game, 35.2 rushes with 125 rush yards, 15.5 completed passes for 213.2 pass yards.
Bryce Perkins is the leader in total yards this season in the conference with 3636 yards. 64.2% for 265 completed passes, 2949 yards, 16 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, 196 personal rushes for 11 touchdowns. Perkins has had to compensate for the bad offensive with Rushes staff. His best game this season was against North Carolina with 378 yards and 30 completed passes, 3 touchdowns.
