If we’re talking about teams that are desperately in need of getting some rest during the All Star break, you have one.
Jets looked flat and in poor shape struggling to get into a win column home or away as they lost 4 straight before the break and 6 of their past 7.
I faded them against Bruins in their first action after All Star break because in my view going against rested, very experienced and ELITE level Bruins team that needed that break maybe even more than Jets will be an extremely tough task for the Jets.
Bruins won that game 2-1 but damn they needed to bring their A game to the Jets to grind out that victory. Jets looked really good in that clash and game could went in the either way as both Brossoit and Rask put some big saves.
Next game Jets proved it and beat 5-2 current champions Blues in dominant fashion as it is never easy to do.
Looking on how well Jets are playing after the break for me its wrong team favored in this one by bookies.
Predators is still a very overrated team and also new coach Hynes is not something to get you excited in my view. He did very poorly this season with the Devils team that added many weapons like Hughes, Gusev and PK Subban to boost their roster. Neither one of those guys clicked under Hynes and now with him OUT, Devils is improving game by game.
Predators will miss their absolutely key defender Ryan Ellis again and possibly forward Jarnkrok.
Lately they got completely shut down at home by the Golden Knights, losing 0-3.
Their special teams, power play and penalty kill are still horrible.
Jets got better offensive talent, better defense and better goalie in my view.
Both Rinne and Saros struggling this season in Predators net, while Helleybuck playing one of his best seasons in Jets jersey.
Jets have 5-6 players injured but its nothing new for them. They’re dealing with it same like the Penguins from the day 1 and both of these teams are doing it very well. Maybe Jets are not as great as Penguins but their players from the 2nd plan are definitely stepping up this season using “next men in” mentality.
Predators does not show that even after a coaching change that they are trustworthy and “bet on” team.
Watching last 2 Jets games after the break against stronger teams than Predators and doing really well in both,
makes me think that they are the side to back in this contest.
