The National Hockey League playoff is back in action Friday evening as the Winnipeg Jets will clash with the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena in game four Western Conference Finals. The Golden Knights have a 2-1 lead in the series after winning the game three by a score of 4-2.
Winnipeg Jets Form
The Winnipeg Jets are one of the hottest team in the NHL this season. They were very solid in the final patch of the regular season. They were able to eliminate the Wild and most surprisingly the Nashville Predators. However, it seems that they are in trouble against the determined Golden Knights team as they had lost two games in a row. They lost game two in Winnipeg and many pundits have related that with the fact that they played 7 games against the Preds. That took the tool on them as the Jets lost game three by a score of 4-2. They will need to reorganize fast as they face the possibility of a 3-1 down if they lose this game on Friday. The Jets away form this season is 24-24 and they have averaged 2.96 goals per game and have allowed 2.79 goals per game in those games.
On the offensive side of the game, the Jets have some decent stats in the postseason as they are placed on the 4th spot in the league in scoring an average of 3.33 goals per game, converting on 26.8% of their chances. On the defensive side of the game, they have been very solid in the playoffs, as they are placed on the 3rd spot in goals conceded, letting in an average of 2.47 goals per game, allowing the opposing teams to convert on 23.7% of their chances.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights are enjoying their first season in the NHL. They surprised many as they started the season with a record of 8-1. Then, the Golden Knights surprised as again as they won the Pacific Division. Now, they are in the Western Conference finals and they are a real chance to get their hands on the Stanley Cup. The Knights demolished the Kings and kept their momentum as they eliminated the Sharks in six games. The Golden Knights have been one of the best home teams in the league this season as their record is 34-13 and they have averaged 3.57 goals per game and have allowed 2.38 goals per game in those games.
On the offensive side of the game, the Golden Knights have some below average stats in the postseason so far, as they are placed on the 9th spot in scoring an average of 2.92 goals per game, converting on 17.0% of their chances. On the defensive side of the game, they have been very strong during the playoffs, as they are the 2nd best team in the league in goals conceded, giving up 1.85 goals per game, allowing the opposing teams to convert on 18.4% of their chances.
The Golden Knights have been strong at their home ground this year, but the Jets have the abilities to win in away games and they showed that in Nashville in game seven of that series. I expect a hard-fought battle that can go either way. However, The Golden Knights have the momentum and I expect them to win this game.
